Alma’s SHR hair removal technology can safely be used to treat all skin types including those with recent sun exposure. SHR works by heating the dermis in the treated area to a point which damages the hair follicle. This in turn prevents further hair growth from forming. Multiple treatments are needed in order to achieve a 85-95% reduction.

Lasers are attracted to colored hair deep in the follicle. The laser works by gently heating the dermis which damages the follicle to the point it is unable to grow.

Clients describe it as a slight pinching sensation with light heating of the dermis. Most clients find it very tolerable.

Typically 5-7 sessions are needed for an 85%-95% reduction. Each treatment can target 10%-15% of hair that is in the active stage. Sessions for the neck and face should be spaced out 4-6 weeks apart and sessions for the body should be spaced out 6-8 weeks apart. After each session you will see a reduction of hair and a slower growth period.

Prior to arriving for treatment you should shave the treatment area. Do not wax, tweeze or pluck hair in the area being treated for 3 weeks before beginning treatment or throughout the continuation of treatments as the laser is attracted to the follicle. You can maintain hair growth between session by shaving or trimming. Avoid direct sun exposure directly before and after treatment. If area appears slightly red or bumpy post treatment, you can use Aloe. We recommend always using SPF throughout your treatments as well.
