Kenalog Acne & Scar Injections | Skin Deep Midtown Med Spa.

Kenalog is a commonly used steroid injection to treat hair loss, cystic acne, and keloid scars. Once the corticosteroid is injected in a scar it works by preventing the substance that causes the production of collagen from being produced, resulting in flatter less raised scars. When injected in cystic acne it works by reducing inflammation causing a reduction of the cyst in 1-5 days. When injected into the scalp it decreases swelling around the hair follicles allowing for better blood flow and nutrient absorption into the area.

Steroid injections are used to decrease inflammation of cystic acne or the raised tissues often found in scars.

Clients often describe a slight pinching sensation lasting for a few seconds in the site of the injection.

For acne injections clients usually see a decrease in inflammation within 24-72 hours. Each scar treatment can be performed 4 weeks apart and depending on the scar, 4-8 treatments will be needed. Results are often seen after 2-3 treatments with the scar.

Post treatment we suggest you avoid touching the injection site. We also suggest you avoid applying any creams or getting the area wet for 4-6 hours to allow the injections site to heal.
